How tech is helping construction catch up with manufacturing.

The only type of technology typically found on a construction project would have been a handful of desktop Pc’s.
These would mainly be used to digitise the correspondence mess that was generated with page after page of endless contracts, drawings and back and forth emails.

There was no intelligent software or technology avaliable to be used to help coordinate the build the project.

We still have our 1920’s Gantt charts, however if one critical date was missed then the entire project was at risk of being thrown off course and potentially delay contractor after contractor as a domino effect hit, costing everyone time and money. How many times have we heard, “The programs out the window?”

Now, gone are the days of constant unrealistic expectations, pushing, yelling and screaming at whomever was thought to be putting the project behind schedule without any understanding, consideration for anything or anyone that came before them.

Thankfully, in 2020 we seem to be gradually moving forward and are starting to see a pragmatic shift in the industry.
Construction technology is now enabling all business’ willing to invest and learn to catch up with their manufacturing partners. Some of who have been investing in tech for years to streamline their processes and become as efficient and collaborative with their respective supply chains as possible.

Each workflow from each contractor, manufacturer or supplier either positively or negatively affects the other.
These are the basics of Newtons law. For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction.
This is the essence of building.

If contractors are not in sync with their predecessor, then how can we expect an efficient workflow? a timely installation? contractors to flow on safely and effeciently? To be able to turn a profit in an extremely competitive and time restricted environment?

As time goes on, we know that this will only get better as the industry begins to adopt a more collaborative and intelligent way to build our mega structures to be faster, safer and generally a more positive experience for the people building them.

Systems like Carell Solutions iTrackitPro are now enabling likeminded construction companies and manufacturers to link up, join the dots and provide information to analyse real time offsite and onsite data. iTrackitPro has the ability to achieve the seemingly impossible and link production processes of one with the other.
Enabling each stakeholder to properly plan and execute sequential contractors, trades and product installations with stunning accuracy.

We are excited by what we may see in the future of construction. So many innovations and technological advancements. A day when we see a building project almost like a living thing, interconnected and built as rythmic and harmonic as Swiss watch.
